I watched the Trump rally and attempted assassination on July 13th in real time. Prayers for those seriously injured, and we should not forget one man, a firefighter, died a hero saving his family. There is a special place in heaven for Mr. Corey Comperatore.
Controlled chaos, certainly, but the back story gets more bizarre every day.
It looked like a bee sting or a BB gun to me initially, but was incredibly close to fatal. After the first reports I thought the kid/shooter was so obvious and so deliberate that he wanted, on some level, to get caught in the act before he shot. I also thought in the moment that the security hand-off between the Secret Service and local LEO had been sloppy and unserious… who would want to shoot Donnie? Everyone in Butler, Pennsylvanis, loves him!
Some local Bubba will take the fall, that’s for sure.
The Secret Service chief, a 27-year veteran, is getting crucified. Put me in the minority. Talks of her resigning may ultimately be appropriate but I think it is premature. Let’s see how the investigation shakes out. Would we fire the CEO of UPS if a truck goes off a cliff? Let the process assign accountability. Cynics will agree, though, that the head or heads of the lowest ranking people will definitely roll, even if quietly, the same folks drinking coffee, literally, underneath the gunman while he was stomping around and getting his range right just over their heads.
An aside on the shooter. I want to initiate a new law: Any gunman (or woman) who shoots at unarmed people in public places should have their names changed to First Asshole Last and be buried in a shallow unmarked grave where wild pigs feed. Let their worthless remains be eaten, dead or alive.
Back to Donnie. My suggestion to him is to downplay the whole episode going forward, only talk about Mr. Comperatore, and campaign like he’s five points behind.
This is now his race to lose.
I like to crow when I am right. I stated and wrote publicly back in February and again in June that Biden would not be the nominee and he did my bidding on July 21st. Whether Harris is nominated remains to be seen. One thing that could happen: Biden could resign very soon and Harris would have the advantage of incumbency, which has oodles of benefits, mostly financial. Air Force One would run on taxpayer bucks, not the Democrat deep state.
We’ll see. I still maintain the Democrat deep pockets cannot abide Harris. The prevailing wisdom is that no one will actively campaign against her just yet, if at all. Whitmer would have to be drafted, for example, and etc.
I believe that Harris will be number 47 one way or the other.
Yes, I am partisan, almost exclusively.
I don’t think the voters will forget the Biden disinformation campaign about his fictional “fitness” and the egregious disservice to the public. The opportunity to have a real primary about issues was squandered by Joe Biden’s piss-poor judgment and his drunk/ junkie family members. Shame on them all.
I do give credit and grudging respect to those Dems who refuse to anoint Harris and call for an open convention.
The Dems continue their cynical treatment of all voters, especially Black voters.
Democracy dies in darkness, you think? It’s dying right in front of our open eyes. Do you really think they care about you at all?
One more quick note: The safest job in the world this year will be any US Senate candidate in a purplish state who wins in November. If Trump wins, he’s a lame duck on day one and without having both houses Nothing Will Happen. If the Dems win, same same.
Four years is not that long, and a six-year term holder can reinvent themselves after 2028 for re-election in 2030. A perfect place for an adroit politician to hop over the fence a few times, or just dance with elan.
Peace. Out.
Thank you for a look from the sidelines. That is where we all stand united as the inner circles try to devide us.
