Harris will walk into the democrat nomination. Under the new pretzeled DNC rules, other interested candidates (I see none on the horizon today) must signal formal intent by the end of July and Harris herself must name a VP by August 7th.
You can sign me up for the I-don’t-give-a-crap-about-that-VP-pick team.
The last shoe was dropped last night: the Obamas have endorsed Harris. That makes it a done deal.
And the threat to democracy? That comes from the democrats who did not let the unwashed masses vote for her nomination. “Keep moving people, nothing to see here.”
Harris is a bumbling lightweight, but if she reads her scripts and takes her cues she will be a formidable opponent for Donnie. Now it’s a real race.
Biden’s TV speech the other night did not help him, his alleged legacy, or the people he swore to serve. He is essentially a dead man walking. I maintain my earlier position which is now stronger than ever a possibility, He will step aside, soon, and Harris will have the benefits that come with being the incumbent.
Then the world will blow up.
Does Harris have the chops to hold Iran at bay? Does anyone in this administration and its shadow governing committee have the wherewithal to castrate the Houthis before they blow up a US naval vessel in the Red Sea?
Israel has been attacked since October 7, 2023, over 200 hundred times by the Houthis… not only Hezbollah or Hamas, but the Houthis. Two hundred times. The Houthis have effectively shut down shipping in the Red Sea. Not to mention the random attacks on US flagged vessels… a direct act of war, which the Big Dog just sloughs off. Wait ‘til a sailor gets killed.
This is all about Iran. Biden or Harris may or may not get tough, but one thing is certain... if Trump gets in office, he will take a hard stand on Iran… so Iran may see that the time to make their bold move is now. The US should make the first bold move, a devastating one.
Watch the next month, especially around the Olympics. If there is a point in time ripe for a huge terrorist attack, the Paris Games will be it. But it will likely be multiple targets, and at least one will be within our borders.
Goodbye, Joe. As has been written by others I do wish the old guy good health in his decline as he is a child of God. But politically I say good riddance. Biden has over 50 years of public service with no significant legislation to his name, an unexceptional and gaffe ridden two terms as VP, and a failure of undistinguished service as a one term president who got the boot from his own team. His only success was making oodles of money for his family, under questionable legality and zero morality.
With any luck his legacy becomes hers and the voters remember it all.
Good Evening, Mr. Horgan.
You and I are both relieved that Mr. Biden has stepped aside. I am additionally glad that he ultimately did so of his own volition. We probably agree also that he was past his expiration date.
As we both wander into this era of unfettered punditry, please allow me to reflect on your assessment of candidate Harris. You’ve offered your conclusions as to her character (“bumbling lightweight”), with inference as to her suitability for becoming the next POTUS. You may or may not have gathered more information than I have about her history. I’ll confess up front that I’ve been a bit of a slacker in that regard – my day job takes up…
