Authority, Influence, and the Enemy over the Hill

I haven’t written in a while.  No big deal, it’s a hobby, but I am out of sorts in small ways.

For pundits and politicians, my favorite subjects, I am struggling for relevancy.  There is so much opinion out there, and most of it is nonsensical or, worse, paid for by sponsors.

I have no authority.  I have no influence.  I am an absorber.

An absorber is in the nether world between authority and influence: a spectator, a voter.  Sometimes I learn, sometimes I pass, sometimes I condemn.  But that is my own little bubble. I write less now because I see that my humble opinion is nothing more than one voice, and as my wife says, I am, “Frequently wrong but never in doubt.”

Yet is it evident that those in authority are morons, and those who “influence” are lazy and crazy.  Hence, I am a happy absorber.  I will make my own decisions, thank you.

From the president to his boot-licking cabinet, to the majorities in congress… their authority is in the grip of one who lords his real authority over everyone, especially the perceived disloyal.  Although DJT is entertaining, he is generally tiresome, predictable, and too reactionary to stonewall enemies and curry favor with allies. 

He’s a bit of an idiot.

DJT makes the right calls in support of Israel and disarming Iran.  I wish he had sold it better to the public.  His miscalculations regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the looooong term effect on the economy may bring ”the whole sucker down” as GWB 43 infamously stated about the economy in the fall of 2008.  DJT’s hubris will cost Republicans 50 House seats and probably the Senate.

Most of the anti-Trump brigade is personal, the TDS kind. All of this is unnecessary and will blazon his name among the tragic and comic figures of US History.

His flippant abuse of authority is a price that Americans will pay for years to come because the influencers are winning the battle, portraying the USA as a failed state.  The current coterie of Democrats is Obama on steroids.  It will be painful.  But at least it isn’t Hillary or Biden or Harris.  Those three were awful.

The influencers are those in the shadow of the limelight, unlike the authority folks who crave it.

Most influencers avoid the limelight, at least they should. They do their damage sotto voce, privately, from the kitchen table to classrooms to absurd protests.  The influencers and the rabble who look crazy to us normals have been indoctrinated in a poison that will be very difficult to cure. 

Influencers in academia are the first line of infantry, lying to children and infecting college age youth.  The media are the second string, but they have influence of reach with more polish.

Andrew McCarthy has adroitly written about the current Democrat party and its “big tent.”  Two factions are now united and have momentum to sway elections, especially in a high price economy. 

First, the excrement who want to globalize the intifada, vanquish Israel, and let sharia rule the world.  I am not overstating that position.  These maniacs really do want a Muslim nation and they are winning the war of the marriage bed.  Just look to New York City.  It is estimated that 1 in 9 residents are Muslim. 

Now that is a solid voting block (as opposed to other ethnic groups) and it continues to grow. And young white people are carrying a lot of that water, those who erroneously perceive no hope in our land of opportunity, because they are intellectually lazy and the poison of American hate is firmly in their DNA.

Second, the socialists.  They call themselves DSA, but they espouse all the looney politics of communism, embracing the idea that violence may be needed to achieve their goals of redistribution.

What were natural enemies months ago are now united.  I don’t think there are enough good guys to make up for the inertia of this potential giant.

I had dinner with a dear friend a few days ago.  He is a dyed in the wool Republican, a 2A disciple of the first order, a veteran and a high thinker whom I respect.

He is voting democrat across the board this November.

I paraphrase his logic but the gist of it was that he is tired of Trump’s arrogance, deliberate distortions in the face of reality, the bootlickers surrounding him, the unqualified intellectually and morally to guide our nation’s policies, the products of his tariffs, the pissing on allies, the bullying of Republicans to kowtow to his every whim, the weak and ineffectual legislative houses, all of it.

And I understand.  I tried to tell my friend of the coming storm, and he would have none of it.  He wants the bad blood in Republican circles, our own, to die out.  He believes a better R Team will emerge.

I am not there yet.  I think the long view is to respect and stop the coming wave of Islamists and socialists.

Anyone with a military background will know that the 50-meter target is the one that must be engaged, now, because that one will kill you first… the enemy over the hill can be engaged once the immediate threat is extinguished.

But the enemy over the hill is coming faster than we realize.
